The Thai island destination of Koh Samui will experience a high number of visitors around November 21st for the traditional full moon party.

Held once each month, Thai full moon parties are legendary in the annals of modern day travel and hailed as possibly the best beach parties in the world. A real draw for young travellers looking to explore the extremes of global nightlife, the full moon party brings around three to five thousand visitors to the area, all of whom join in the festivities at the local beach clubs and bars.

More than a dozen massive sound systems are set up along the beach at Koh Phangan, with talented DJs providing the soundtrack to a seemingly endless night of dancing and enjoyment. The parties are the direct result of an interaction between local tradition and the habits of those frequenting the island on their travels and represent a melding of the old and new in Thailand.

Lek Boonlert, Head of Marketing at DirectRooms.com said: “The full moon parties are a massive draw for people considering travelling to Thailand and visitor figures are likely to swell around the time of the full moon because of this. While Thailand is a popular tourist destination with lots of accommodation on offer, it is always advisable for anyone planning to travel to the area at these times to research Koh Samui hotels in advance, in order to secure themselves quality accommodation.”
