The Rice House is an amazing Balinese style villa, nestled on a hillside, with stunning sea views across the bay of Chaweng beach and the northern coast of Koh Samui.

The Rice House features a distinctive Balinese thatched roof in the style of traditional rice barns while the owner, who also built Eden Rock Villa and The Pineapple House has ensured consistency in luxury and taste throughout the villa. Accessed via private pathway and wooden bridge, a hand carved Balinese door opens to Villa. A short staircase leads up to the ground floor air-conditioned double bedroom with its en-suite bathroom, mini-bar, safe, and satellite TV. To add comfort for its guests, the bedroom features a water hyacinth sofa and coffee table set in order to enjoy the fantastic sea views through full height windows and concertina glass doors. The steps run further to reach a Balinese stone-carved fountain, with a lawn patch and up to the main floor level of Villa. First, an outdoor detached Balinese bathroom with a high thatched roof, and sandstone clad walls is two steps away from the main entrance. Then, when entering the living room, one feels the spaciousness of the room due to the wooden beamed high ceiling, and large windows on 3 sides to ensure an optimum natural brightness. The largest windows open onto the large covered balcony with al-fresco dining for 6 while enjoying that world class sea view. Adjacent to the balcony is a large patio where sits the infinity-edge pool. The pool patio can also be entered through concertina doors on the sides of the living room, and includes a selection of sun-beds and an outdoor dining table for 6 with a large parasol. The open-plan living room includes a fully equipped kitchen with full-size oven, built-in stainless steel microwave, large fridge-freezer, hob with extractor hood and a range of appliances. A wooden breakfast bar seats two on wooden bar chairs, and a water hyacinth suite with coffee table completes the setting in this comfortable room. The final touch of mood is set by the Balinese art and antiques. To the back of the room, a wide steel and wood spiral staircase leads up to the sumptuous master bedroom, where the design of the thatched roof can be further appreciated with a dome of exposed thatch domes down on the romantic King size bed and its mosquito nets.

Ambience and optimisation of space and comfort can be felt with numerous addition to the room fittings and furniture: another water hyacinth suite with coffee table opens to the balcony through full length windows with similar sea views as the other rooms; at the rear of the room, a wood panelled wall hides the air-conditioning and a walk-in wardrobe; the room is also equipped with satellite TV, DVD, personal safe and ceiling fans; finally a double daybed overlooks the pool through a window in the thatch, and an antique wood carved sofa on the balcony adds to the unique mood of the villa’s master bedroom.
